AMD first time is the next generation processor architecture APU

Chip giant AMD today the theme of "Fusion Future" Conference and a new generation of innovative technology AMD GPU (graphics processor) product launch, said that its next-generation processors based APU (accelerated processor) of computer products will be available at the end.

It is understood that R & D staff at the meeting elaborated on AMD's innovation and technology trends, displaying the AMD CPU and GPU in the design of future development of the comprehensive strength and panoramic views. This is also the technical staff AMD AMD following the 15th of this month after the Chairman of the Board Kefu Lin's first visit to a gathering, AMD further highlights the importance of the Chinese market.

First detailed exposure of the next generation of AMD processors APU (accelerated processor) architecture core Bulldozer (Bulldozer) and Bobcat (Lynx), these two cores in AMD's future plans to occupy a crucial position. The so-called APU is the real CPU and GPU together, entirely in a single chip which, through a new generation of DX11 X86 architecture processors and support the integration of high-performance GPU in a small size to provide high-performance PC, and more visual experience.

It is reported that, Bulldozer located in high-performance PC and server market, based on the Bulldozer architecture of the server and desktop processors expected to be officially released in 2011. The "Bobcat" is specifically for low power applications, the processor will be the APU engine. Compared with the current mainstream processors, "Bobcat" to less than half of its core area and low power consumption provides about 90% of its performance.

It is worth mentioning that, AMD demonstrated the first time in Beijing its latest Fusion (fusion) products. It is reported that the first products based on Fusion of the APU will be shipped at the end of this year, based on this system is expected to market early next year. Clearly, AMD has accelerated the pace of introduction of Fusion products.

APU first introduced, code-named "Ontario" and "Zacate", respectively, for portable notebooks, and ultra small desktop thin and light notebook market, entry-level mainstream notebooks, and other market applications integration, lowest power consumption as low as 9W and 18W. "Ontario" and "Zacate" are used "Bobcat" CPU core, and the integration of the GPU core to support DX11, HD effects can bring shock and long battery life. The other, a high-end APU LIano is able to perform at the same time high-definition video playback applications processor and to achieve 30 GFLOPS of computing performance.

With the PC user demand to entertainment video, high-definition gaming visual embodiment, CPU + GPU integration trend becoming increasingly apparent. As the industry's only manufacturer of both CPU and GPU with superior resources of the company, for the integration of the AMD GPU performance advantages. Compared with similar products, AMD APU support DX11 integrated graphics core, combined with AMD from the notebook, desktop to server multi-core across the board layout, the competitive landscape in the future will take a favorable position. As Vice President of AMD Greater China general manager Wang Zhengfu said: "Fusion 'Fusion' strategy, will become AMD's strategic axis. Fusion Fusion concept innovation will be the cornerstone of future computing. I believe AMD will be a series of initiatives the future will be to enhance the visual computing, personal computing to the enterprise computing experience, have a profound impact.

In addition, at the world premiere of the second generation of DirectX 11 graphics card Radeon HD 6800 series, the GPU display technology to a higher level. Compared to its predecessor, AMD Radeon HD6800 series graphics cards in DirectX 11, Eyefinity (wide area), UVD and other key technologies for a substantial innovation, has also joined HD3D, EyeSpeed and other new elements for the visual experience of a new high.
